How does it work?
Simply send a text message from any mobile phone, containing the
word 'txtbux' (or as a shortcut, 'tb') and the
ISBN number of any book to 07766
40 41 42.
For example, to check the prices of the latest
Harry Potter book, which has an ISBN of 0747551006, you would send
a text message
containing 'txtbux 0747551006'.
We will check the prices automatically, and text
you back with details of the price and availability of the book.
You can then log back onto this site, and you will
find a list of all the books you have checked in recent
books.
How much does it cost?
Sending us a text message costs nothing, beyond what your mobile
phone company charge you already (usually 10p).
We pay for the
service with a commission of between 5 and 15% we receive from
Amazon for every book bought after clicking on a link from this
site. That is why it is important that, if you decide
to buy a book from Amazon after checking its price, you click
through from
the recent books page, or the e-mail confirmation we send you
for
each book.
How do I find the ISBN number
of a book?
The ISBN number is usually located above the barcode on the back
of a book. It is 10 digits long, and consists of the numbers
0-9,
and occasionally an
X.
It may contain spaces or dashes - you can safely
miss these out.
You can also text us the barcode number instead,
but these are generally longer than the ISBN (13 digits instead of
10).
How is the postage calculated?
The postage information we include is based on Amazon's published postage rates.
They charge a flat fee per delivery (currently £2.16) plus
an extra charge per item (£0.59 per book). This means it is a lot cheaper to buy two
or more items at once, than to order them seperately.
We always text you the cost of buying a book on
its own - remember that if you order two or more, the postage will
cost less!
Amazon currently offer free postage on orders
totalling over £25.
Can I check the price of
any other products?
At the moment, we can only check the prices of items with an ISBN number - this
is basically books, talking books, and some computer software.
In
the
future,
we
may
introduce price checks and comparisons of other products.
Is this service available
outside the UK?
At the moment, we only offer the service to UK mobile phones, with price checks
and delivery information from Amazon.co.uk. In the future we may expand to cover
other countries.
However, if you are using your UK phone abroad,
you can still use the service (so you can order books on your return).
Just remember to use the international format for our number +44
7766 40 41 42.
Why do I have to confirm
my mobile number by entering a code?
This is to confirm that you have entered your mobile number correctly, and your
phone is capable of receiving text messages.
What book details do you
send me?
We send the book title and author, current price, availability and postage costs,
as
listed
on
Amazon.co.uk. Due to restrictions in the length of text messages, we may have
to cut short titles or authors - we will indicate this with a ~ symbol.
Where other Amazon.co.uk customers have rated a
book, we will include the average rating (out of 5) - e.g. [4.2/5]
The details are correct to the best of our knowledge
at the time you text us - but Amazon may change them without warning.
Who
actually sends my book?
All aspects of your order, including payment and delivery, are an agreement between
you and Amazon.co.uk. We just provide pricing information to you.
